History & Philosophy

Martinsburg College, founded in 1980, began as a pioneer in competency-based learning, technology assisted education, and distance training with its first training center opening in New York offering student-centered education. As educational technology improved, Martinsburg College continued to evolve capitalizing on decades of in-school experience and started offering high quality distance education certificate and degree programs.

Since 2006, Martinsburg College has been based in Martinsburg, West Virginia and continues to provide performance oriented, skills-based educational programs to adults seeking to improve their levels of proficiency in a broad range of disciplines through distance education. As a result of the quality programs and experience in supporting adult learners in non-traditional educational delivery, the college has consistently maintained high student completion and satisfaction rates.
