Brook Lynn is a graduate of the Medical Office Administration program.
Here is what she had to say about her experience:
To begin with, I am 24 years old. I did not have the slightest clue as to what I wanted to do with my life, as a career. All I’ve ever known is waitressing, retail, and being a stay at home mom. I started thinking about what I need to do with my next step. I don’t just want to be a stay at home mom, I didn’t want to just be okay with waitressing or retail jobs for the rest of my life. I wanted someone my kids could look up to, and be proud of. I started researching into the medical field, and then the next day I saw a post on my Facebook page for a Medical Administrative Assistant course! I reached out, and my student rep was beyond amazing! I couldn’t thank her enough for helping me pursue my career.
My favorite part of being able to attend Martinsburg College, is just that. I feel and felt so fortunate to be able to start college and have such amazing support behind me, from the school and my family. Other than that, I honestly think my favorite part was the toughness of the course. It truly made me sit down, study, and work hard on what I needed to accomplish.
My favorite courses were Medical Terminology 1 & 2. They give you so much perspective, and you really have to pay attention to every detail.
I loved the fact that the Instructors were really there for you if you need them. And they understood if something came up, and you had to turn an assignment in late. They wouldn’t deduct points from being late, they would grade it as if you turned it in on time. I really appreciated that, because being a mom of a 5-year-old, a 2 year old and being pregnant on top of it, everything can start to become overbearing.
