In today’s business world, technology permeates every aspect of an organization. Businesses use data to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and enhance the customer/client experience. To function in this environment, individuals are required to have a minimum degree of comfort with commonly utilized technology. The Business and Technology program prepares students with business and information technology skills to utilize in the typical business environment. Students will gain an introductory knowledge of the business environment, information technology and commonly used workplace technology programs. To meet the demands of the modern business environment, this program prepares students to utilize essential business concepts and technology to accomplish business objectives. Designed to meet the needs of employers and students alike, this program builds computer literacy, information technology, communication, and workplace administration and organization skills. In addition, students are also provided with an introduction to marketing and its key concepts. They will examine the different marketing strategies organizations use to interact with their customers and prospective customers. In today’s highly competitive business environment, organizations need to use a multichannel approach to marketing. Students will explore the benefits of doing business online and strategies to successfully use social media, branding, viral marketing, and blogs to connect with customers.
Additionally, students are taught the skills to utilize the most essential technology tools in the modern workplace through training in operating systems, information management and efficiency, time and workstation management, records management, document processing, sharing and collaborating on work assignments, and the art and science of communication. Students will learn essential Information Technology skills and knowledge needed to perform tasks such as working with common operating systems and establishing network connectivity, IT infrastructure, software development and database use.
